So many times in our lives we feel like we are in a holding pattern. Like the promises of God are there in the distance and we are trying to hold on to believe them, but in the here and now we seem stuck in the “in-between” place of waiting. It is in this in-between place that true faith is incubated. When we cannot see the promises, do we still believe? Abraham was a man who had found incredible favor with God and who had been promised amazing things, a son from a barren body! Generations that would follow as numerous as the stars who would call him father! But still, he had to stare dead in the face of a seemingly hopeless situation and deal with the struggles of his own heart. Would he settle for a hired servant or a half son born of the thinking and working of man, or would he hold on to the promises of God, and long and thirst for the real thing enough to birth the true son of promise, the full heir of his house- the son of faith!
